A call from the Mustard Seed
Well I have been a little under the weather lately. In part I am sure because my level of job satisfaction has been at an all time low the past few months. I have always woke up pretty much ready to take on the world. I have enjoyed going into work the past five or six years, hell I even enjoyed going into work, when I knew that going into work meant sludging through septic water, or ripping down old burnt out houses. But something has been missing lately. And I am sure that whatever it is that is missing, is in part responsible for my general lacklusterness the past few days. Generally Lethargic with a sore throat, and ears that feel like I am flying in a plane at 30,000 feet. How exactly do your ears get plugged when you are just laying on the sofa.
About a week or so ago, I sent in an application to help volunteer at the Mustard Seed Mission, in downtown Calgary. I was hoping that by doing some volunteer work, it might help me to get some satisfaction once again with my life. Today, a girl named Jo'el from the mustard seed called to let me know that she had received my application, and that she would like me to attend a volunteer orientation on Oct 28. I will keep you posted on this one, but needless to say, I am looking forward to a regular shift working, that is not working at my day job. It will also be interesting to meet and be around people who are not caught up in the whole work, work, work state of mind.
It might sound strange but there has been more than one occasion that I have missed just having my back pack, and living in the hostel, with my next days rent being my only responsibility. I also know that I over romanticize it, but hopefully by seeing it through a different lenz I will get a better understanding it.
Well that is all for today. Talk to you later

i disagree: backpacks are never cool...they are uncomfortably heavy, full of books of all things, look dorky, and pull at your hair all the time. In Summary: lack of responsibility = cool, backpacks not!
Hey :),
Did you get a chance to Volunteer at the Seed? How was it?
