A quiet Friday....and a nice certificate.

Well another week is just about done. Not much happened this week. In the workout world I have increased my daily cardio routine to just under 2hrs, and i am expecting some great results from that. In the personal world, it was Kelly's birthday on Tuesday...happy birthday, I will see you in a couple weeks for a belated birthday dinner and gift. But the real news for the week comes from the work-world.

For those of you who are not aware I have been working for the past few years on acquiring all the courses needed, in order to recieve the title of "National Construction Safety Officer'. Just prior to xmas I completed all the necessary coursework for this program. In addition to coursework, one needs to have been working in a skilled construction field for at least three years, so for the past month or so, i have been waiting for the ACSA (Alberta Construction Safety Association) to determine whether my field experience was skilled enough to grant me the title of "Officer" over the lesser title of "Administrator". Well today my certificate came in the mail, so I am now, officially a "National Construction Safety Officer" or NCSO for short.

There is something empowering that comes with certifications that trancend borders. As I am not a University graduate, these designations are the closest I come. It is nice to have transferable skills, especially ones that have a national or international backing. It would also be fare to say that I am the only, or one of a very few in canada, who is both a master fire restorer and an NCSO, so if there is ever another situation like the Kelowna fire, I could be in high demand lol. And with one more Master designation (Master Water Restorer), which will likely be happening this year, I might be given the opportunity to deal with some "Katrina" type stuff in the future, but hey, that is a long way off.

I guess from a blog point of view.....my only comment would be "Thats Ian Newman NCSO, biiioootttcccchhh"

Congratulations Officer! I haven't run this by Linny yet, but she and I are going to make you a badge to honour the new title. And the identification picture we are going to use is the one circa May 26, 2006 in the "Me and Merlin" blog entry of you and that parakeet. Heh heh heh I'm looking at that picture right now. It makes me so happy...
